The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1978 were held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, West Germany, between January 29 and February 5. It held competitions in multiple disciplines, including cross-country, ski-jumping, alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, speed skiing, snowboard, and many others. [1] de:Alpine Skiweltmeisterschaft 1978

The event is the last time the championships were held here until 2011. Garmisch hosted the first Olympic alpine skiing competition (Combined event), at the 1936 games.
