Alexis N'Gambi (born 20 January 1982) is a Cameroonian football defender.

He also holds French nationality.

Career

France

After playing in Kadji Sports Academy in Cameroon, in 1999 he was spotted by RC Strasbourg that offered him a contract. He stayed with them until 2002 but has failed to make an appearance for the first team, and instead has all three seasons for the Strasbourg B team, playing 50 matches and scoring once.

In 2002 he was loaned to FC Gueugnon and after one successful season with them he would move definitely to Guegnon and stay until 2005 playing three consecutive seasons in League 2. He became a standard central defender of the club playing a total of 93 league matches in 3 seasons.

This was followed closely by another League 2 club, Montpellier HSC that both him in 2005. He will play another three seasons in League 2 now with Montpellier, playing a total of 73 league matches scoring 3 goals. In total in French League 2, he played 160 league matches in 6 years.

Recent career

It was in 2008 that he received a call for the Cameroon national team and a move to the Serbian champions FK Partizan. He was signed together with Tunisian international midfielder Kamel Zaiem but due to the heavy competition in the central defender spot he lacked chances, and at the end he failed to impress and left the club next winter having only managed to play two matches in the Serbian SuperLiga.

He moved to Latvian FK Daugava Rīga playing in the Latvian Higher League. The club was struggling in the league and he left next summer signing with Panthrakikos F.C. that was playing in the Greek Super League. Again, the club was having difficulties in the league and during winter break, after playing 6 Super League matches, N'Gambi left the club that ended up relegated that year. In that winter break of the 2009-10 season he moved to the Romanian ambitious newly promoted Liga I club FC Astra Ploieşti.

National team

His appearance for Cameroon national team was in 2008 in a qualification match for the South African 2010 FIFA World Cup.
