He is known for co-writing Justin Bieber's Boyfriend with fellow songwriter Mike Posner.[1] He is also known for producing a few of rapper G-Eazy's songs and collaborating with artists such as Ne-Yo, Pharrell, and Childish Gambino.[2] In addition to this, he writes, sings, and produces most of his music. His works include his first mixtape, titled Sex, his first EP, titled The Afterglow, his first full-length album, Deadroses, and his second album Help.

Early career

After the release of Boyfriend in early 2012, Blackbear released his first mixtape, Sex, with collaborations from James Blake and Mike Posner[3] on October 31, 2012. He later took to SoundCloud to post his music, including his second EP, titled The Afterglow in 2014.

Career

2015—present: Deadroses and Dead

Releasing his first album Deadroses on February 14, 2015, Blackbear was met with success. The lead single "Idfc" earned millions of streams on both SoundCloud and fellow streaming site Spotify. The second single, "90210" featuring rapper G-Eazy was described as an "upbeat, summery instrumental".[4] The debut album was soon followed by an acoustic EP, titled Dead, which featured a couple of tracks from Deadroses and one new track. Now, his most recent release on SoundCloud is his EP, Drink Bleach.
