The Buffalo Niagara Region is a part of the Great Lakes region of North America, comprising most of Western New York in the United States and the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario, Canada. The Regional Institute of the University at Buffalo has defined the region as including the eight westernmost counties in New York, as well as the Regional Municipality of Niagara and Hamilton in Ontario,[1] although this term is rarely used on the Canadian side of the border.
The 10 government districts in the region, as defined by the University at Buffalo, are:
- Eight counties in the United States
- Two municipalities in Canada
