The Braves say they regard the 6-foot-3 Salcedo as a first-round talent who is projected as a strong offensive and defensive player. He was named the 9th best Atlanta Braves prospect according to Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus.[26] Salcedo's playing career was delayed due to suspicions about his valid age. He was once considered the top international prospect back in 2007 and was offered a $2.7 million signing bonus by the Cleveland Indians but was voided by the United States government due to his age.[27]
On January 13, 2014, he was invited to spring training. The Braves traded Salcedo to the Pirates for Bryton Trepagnier on February 5, 2015.[28] He was traded to the Kansas City Royals in August 2015.[29]
