Summary

From a full size car, the Fairlane became an intermediate sized car in 1962, bridging the gap between the compact Falcon and full size Galaxie. A facelift in 1963 saw a new concave grille and in 1964 another new grille for 1964 and the tail fins were gone. For 1964 and 1965 models available in the Fairlane range were: base Fairlane and Fairlane 500 2 door coupes and 4 door sedans, and Fairlane 500 and Sports Coupe 2 door hardtops (4 door also assembled in Australia- the 'compact' Fairlane). Engines; 170 cu in 6, 221 and 260 Windsor V8s. (289 option)
