PPP GNI per capita in this map is in international dollars using purchasing power parity rates. An international dollar has the same purchasing power over GNI as a U.S. dollar has in the United States.
The color coding uses the standard definition of various income groups as published in 2014 by The World Bank for PPP GNI per capita:
High Income: $43,864 and higher
High Middle Income: $7,540 to $43,864
Low Middle Income: $2,068 to $7,540
Low Income: $2,068 and lower
The high middle income group is split into two in this map ($7540 - $20,000, $20,000 - $43,864).
The low middle income group is split into two in this map ($2068 - $5,350, $5,350 - $7,540).
