The full name of the 1931 structure is Mabel Shaw Bridges Auditorium, after a student who died as a student at Pomona at the age of 22, in 1907. Its architect was William Templeton Thompson. It was constructed for about $600,000, and seats about 2500. In front of the auditorium is the Marston Quad, a focal point of the campus. It is known on campus as 'Big Bridges', to distinguish it from Bridges Hall of Music (Little Bridges).
