The very ill man lying at the back on the lower bunk is <a href="https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Hamburger" class="extiw" title="nl:Max Hamburger">Max Hamburger</a>, who had <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuberculosis" class="extiw" title="wikipedia:Tuberculosis">TBC</a> and severe <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/malnutrition" class="extiw" title="wikipedia:malnutrition">malnutrition</a>. He recovered and became a psychiatrist in the Netherlands.
