Summary

Rearrangement of the <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Comics_half_page.svg" title="File:Comics half page.svg">"Standard" half-page layout</a> used to fit the comic on one-third of a page for Sunday comics in American newspapers. The layout is also used for some webcomics, and may well be used in other countries as well.

Note that, as explained at the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comic_strip_formats#Third" class="extiw" title="en:Comic strip formats">Comic strip formats</a> Wikipedia article, "Thirds usually drop several panels, and [...] Most people who casually read the Sunday comics are not aware that they are missing several panels of a strip if their newspaper runs it as a third."
