Summary

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairbanks-Morse" class="extiw" title="w:Fairbanks-Morse">Fairbanks-Morse</a> diesel engine (model 32E14) and pump used for pumping canal water, on display at <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stretch_Park" class="extiw" title="w:John Stretch Park">John Stretch Memorial Park</a>. This 3-cylinder engine produced 225 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/horsepower" class="extiw" title="w:horsepower">horsepower</a>, at a maximum of 300 <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPM" class="extiw" title="w:RPM">rpm</a>, with a 14-inch <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bore_(engine)" class="extiw" title="w:Bore (engine)">bore</a> and a 17-inch <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroke_(engine)" class="extiw" title="w:Stroke (engine)">stroke</a>. The pump has a horizontal propeller, with an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axial_compressor" class="extiw" title="w:Axial compressor">axial flow </a> design, and a 48-inch diameter opening, and could pump 80,000 gallons per minute. It was put into use by the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Florida_Water_Management_District" class="extiw" title="w:South Florida Water Management District">Central and Southern Water Management District</a> during the 1940s, and retired from service on May 28, 1991.
