Marking Australia Day this week, High Commissioner Margaret Twomey was pleased to announce the awarding of the Order of Australia to Peter Drysdale. A dual citizen of Fiji and Australia, Drysdale has spent most of his life in Fiji. He was awarded in recognition of his contribution over the last 30 years to providing low-cost housing for disadvantaged Fijians through what is now the Koroipita Model Town Charitable Trust. Ms Twomey announced Drysdale's award to guests at the Australia Day function hosted at the High Commissioner's residence in Suva on Tuesday. Guests at the event included Government ministers and senior officials, heads of media organisations, local businesses and regional organisations, members of the diplomatic corps and civil society. The Order of Australia is Australia's highest recognition for outstanding achievement and service
