She founded the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Revolutionary_Association_of_the_Women_of_Afghanistan" class="extiw" title="w:en:Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan">Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan</a> (RAWA) in 1977, a group organized to promote equality and education for women. She was assassinated in <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Quetta&action=edit&redlink=1" class="new" title="Quetta (page does not exist)">Quetta</a>, <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Pakistan" class="mw-redirect" title="Pakistan">Pakistan</a> on February 4, 1987.
