It was labeled: "Rothco, "G.I. PLUS", Type III Commercial, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nylon" class="extiw" title="en:Nylon">en:Nylon</a> Paracord, Made by a Certified US Gov't Contractor, 550 lb. Test, 7 Strand Core, 100% Nylon, Made in the USA". The sheath (mantle) is braided from 32 strands and the core (kern) made up of seven two-<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ply" class="extiw" title="en:ply">en:ply</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/yarn" class="extiw" title="en:yarn">en:yarns</a>. Thus it does not appear to conform strictly to MIL-C-5040H Type III, which seems to specify three-ply yarns for the core. It is possible, however, that the two plies contain a similar amount of nylon as the equivalent three-ply yarns and behave similarly. The pictured scale is in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/inch" class="extiw" title="en:inch">en:inches</a>. NOTE: The scale was contrast enhanced for better visibility in thumbnail size image.
