Summary
Pay to Sit: seat spikes retract when credit card inserted, by Steve Mann, San Francisco Art Institute, 2001. A credit card reader was connected to a networked computer to permit the downloading of a seat license. The first license was free, and a global database was kept of all users, so that each user only got one free trial seating session regardless of geographic location.
