Drawing by A. Forestier of a Royal Command Performance at Windsor Castle, 16 November 1905, at which a performance of The Merchant of Venice was given, starring Arthur Bourchier and his wife Violet Vanbrugh.

The performance was played by Bourchier's company before King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra and their guests in the Waterloo Chamber, Windsor Castle. The Royal party are seated in the front row, as it would be a breach of etiquette for their subjects to sit with their backs toward them.
