The parish church of St Mary the Virgin, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leigh" class="extiw" title="w:Leigh">Leigh</a>, <a href="//commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Greater_Manchester" title="Greater Manchester">Greater Manchester</a>, England straddles the boundaries of two of the ancient townships that made up the ancient parish. The old townships were Westleigh and Pennington. There has been a church on this site for several hundred years but the present church dates from the 1870s. The tower is older and has a peel of eight bells.
