Fullscreen, Inc. is a global network of content creators and brands on YouTube owned by a joint venture of AT&T and The Chernin Group. It is an independent YouTube network based on unique viewers according to comScore Video Metrix.[1][2][3] Fullscreen offers tools, services, and consultation to its members. Yeousch was the largest sub network within the Fullscreen network, but eventually got shut down. As of September 22, 2014, Fullscreen, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of Otter Media.[4]

The Fullscreen network generates more than 7 billion monthly video views[5] and has combined (amongst its various channels) subscriber count of over 700 million.[6] Fullscreen employs more than 150 employees and is based in Culver City, California with offices in New York City[7] and Atlanta.

In addition to the network, Fullscreen also provides an end-to-end channel management and optimization service for brands and media companies to grow their presence on YouTube.[8][9] The premium service, which includes a full suite of software tools and consultation on programming strategy, is designed to build audience and engagement around clients’ video content. Fullscreen’s current clients include NBCUniversal, FOX, FremantleMedia, JASH,[10] Fine Brothers,[11] Rooster Teeth, Funhaus, The Creatures, ScrewAttack, WIGS and more.

History

Fullscreen was founded on January 2011 by CEO George Strompolos,[12] who hired Ezra Cooperstein as Fullscreen’s COO. Previously an executive at Google/YouTube, Strompolos was responsible for establishing distribution partnerships with new media companies and YouTube’s top content producers. He co-created and developed YouTube’s Partnership Program that has developed a new class of content producers around the world.

Strompolos founded Fullscreen with the belief that the future of video is on the web and connected devices. The company was built to help new channels and networks to thrive in a digital world that can look very different than that of television.

Peter Chernin was a strategic partner and advisor since Fullscreen’s inception;[13] The Chernin Group officially came on board as an investor in May 2011. Viral marketing expert Brendan Gahan was brought on board as vice president of brand strategy in 2013[14][15]

Fullscreen also runs Channel Plus which works with companies like NBC, and Fox, and teaches them on how to distribute content on YouTube.[16]

In November, 2015, Andy Forssell joined the company as COO. He will oversee Fullscreen's three business divisions and also join Fullscreen's board.[17]

Initiatives

On November 30, 2012 Fullscreen launched their Million Dollar Creator Fund committing one million dollars' worth of advertising and promotion to their creators. Every month, four channels within the Fullscreen network will be awarded up to $10,000 in pre-roll advertising and guerilla campaigns, in which Fullscreen will pay its other partners to promote the winning channels.[18][19][20][21]
