Historical theology
From Infogalactic: the planetary knowledge core
Historical theology as a branch of theology investigates the socio-historical and cultural mechanisms that give rise to theological ideas, statements, and systems. Research and methods in this field focus on the relationship between theology and its contexts, as well as on the major theological influences upon the figures and topics studied. Historical theologians are thus concerned with the historical development of theology.
