Jan Anderson (scientist)

Jan Mary Anderson FAA FRS (13 May 1932 – 28 August 2015) was a New Zealand scientist from , distinguished by her investigation of photosynthesis. She was the first to show that the photosynthetic mechanism comprises two fundamental components: photosystem I and photosytem II.[1] Anderson was an Adjunct Professor at the Australian National University.[2]

She received many honors and awards for her work, including election as a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 1987, and as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1996.[3]

She died on 28 August 2015.[4]
