This is a list of islands in the world ordered by population. It includes all islands with population greater than 100,000. For km comparison, continental landmasses are also shown. The population of the world's islands is over 730 million, approximately 11% of the world's total population.

The Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE) 2014 population estimates list a combined population of 786,605 inhabitants for the municipalities of Santos and São Vicente, whose main urban areas take up almost the entire island. The vast majority of both cities' population lives there. However, the data include a few small settlements on the mainland belonging to those cities, for which separate data are not available on the IBGE Web site.
