Michael D. Cohen is an American lawyer, best known for his work as an attorney for Donald Trump and The Trump Organization. He joined the Trump Organization after having been a partner at the Phillips Nizer law firm.[2]
Cohen is Executive Vice-President of the Trump Organization, a co-president of Trump Entertainment, and is involved in Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.[3] He is also a member of the board of the Eric Trump Foundation, a children's health charity named for Eric Trump.[2]
Personal life
Cohen grew up on Long Island[2] and graduated from American University and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.[3] He volunteered for the 1988 presidential campaign of Michael Dukakis,[2] was a legislative intern for Congressman Joe Moakley,[4] and voted for Barack Obama in 2008, though he later became disappointed with Obama.[2] He also ran for New York City Council in 2003 as a Republican and briefly campaigned for a seat in the New York State Senate in 2010.[3][4] Before joining the Trump Organization, he bought several homes in Trump buildings.[4] Cohen lives in New York City with his wife and two children.
