Nana Buluku (or Nanan-bouclou) is the Supreme God of the Fon from Dahomey.

In Dahomey mythology, Nana Buluku is an androgynous Supreme Creator of the Universe and all that exists in it. Twins were born to Nana Buluku: the moon spirit Mawu and the sun spirit Lisa.[1]

Worship in the New World

Nanã as pictured in Candomblé.

Worship of the God spread to the rest of the world, especially through centuries of captured Africans who were purchased and sold all over the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade. She is celebrated as Nanã in Candomblé Jejé and as Nana Burukú in Candomblé Ketu, where she is pictured as a very old woman, older than creation itself.
