Paulo Cesar Duque-Estrada

Paulo Cesar Duque-Estrada is a professor of contemporary philosophy and Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs (Graduate Programs and Research) at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).[1]

He is President of the Forum of Brazilian Vice-presidents for Graduate Studies (FOPROP) for the 2012-2013 academic year. [2]


Education

He received both his B.A. and his M.A. from the PUC-Rio and his Ph.D. from Boston College. In 1999-2000 he developed a post-doctoral research program on the subject of Hermeneutics and Deconstruction at New School for Social Research, New York.[1]

Study Group in Ethics and Deconstruction

He was the first to bring Derrida's thought to the field of philosophy within the academic environment in Brazil.

In 2002 he founded, along with some of his post-graduate students, the Study Group in Ethics and Deconstruction (NEED- Núcleo de Estudos em Ética e Desconstrução), dedicated to the thought of the French philosopher Jacques Derrida.
