Ravi Kishan Shukla (born 17 July 1971), popularly known as Ravi Kishan, is an Indian actor and television personality, who works in Hindi cinema and Bhojpuri cinema.[2] In 2006, he participated in Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother.[3]

Career

In June 2008 Ravi Kishan And Ajit Kumar Singh was awarded the Most Popular Actor award at ETV Bhojpuri Cinema Samman 2008 function. Popular reality shows like Big Boss[4] and more recently Ek Se Badhkar Ek - Jalwe Sitaron Ke have brought him to the front line of top Indian television actors. In 2008, he started co-hosting the celebrity dance-based reality show Bathroom Singer, Ek Se Badhkar Ek – Jalwe Sitaron Ke on Zee. Ravi Kishan also hosted a reality show, Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka, on NDTV Imagine for two seasons. Ravi Kishan has worked with film directors like Shyam Benegal[5] and Mani Ratnam in 2010.

A film starring Ravi Kishan,Ajit Kumar Singh, Jala Debh Duniya Tohra Pyar Mein, produced by American film company PUN Films, was shown in the India Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival 2010.[citation needed]

In 2013, Ravi Kishen was one of the judges for reality TV show, "Sales ka Bazigar" - the show was telecasted on ETV.[6] The show aimed to find the best salesperson in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The top ten people who made it to the finales were to be employed by the presenter of the show, Su-kam Power Systems - the winner would get a package of ten lacs per annum, followed by the first runner up winning a package of six lacs per annum.[7] It was first of its kind show to find best salesperson in India which saw participation from over 10,000 people from regions across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.[8]

Political career

He joined Indian National Congress from Jaunpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh.[9]

Personal life

Kishan is a Brahmin.[10] He is married to Preeti, they have four children. His father lives in his hometown, Bisuin (Barain) in Kerakat tehsil.Jaunpur District. Bisuin is a small village on the border of Varanasi Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh, consisting of about 20 families.[1]

Dubbing career

In 2007, Ravi Kishan has given his Bhojpuri-dubbing voice to Toby Maguire's role as Spider-Man in the third film, marking this to be the first Hollywood blockbuster film to ever also include a Bhojupri voice dub, along with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu voice-dubs in the film dubbing industry in India. This planned him to create a Superhero film on his own, later on.[12]
