The Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES) was founded in 1998 with the mission to increase interest and knowledge in interdisciplinary applied entrepreneurship at its member universities. As of 2013 those members are the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), Karolinska Institutet (KI), the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack), and Stockholm University (SU).

SSES has three key areas of operations; academic education, hands-on training activities and inspirational events.

Organisation

SSES consists of a team of faculty and staff members in addition to a large number of domestic and international guest experts contributing to its activities annually. In each of the five member institutions SSES is represented by its local SSES Competence Centre, consisting of a team led by a Centre Director who is a local academic of note.

The President of SSES is Nick Kaye. Rasmus Rahm is vice President and Director of Education and Training.

Achievements

SSES courses are recognised as internal courses at all five member universities and member university students participate together with students and teachers from other member universities - resulting in doctors sitting next to engineers, business students and designers in SSES classrooms. Today the SSES portfolio consists of academic courses both at MSc and PhD levels and by the end of 2013 SSES will have offered a total of 186 academic courses and more than 8500 students have by then been graduated from SSES courses.

To complement the SSES academic curriculum a portfolio of training activities has been established. SSES portfolio of training activities has been established. SSES portfolio of training consists of four categories; International Bootcamps, Weekend Workshops, Toolbox Fridays and International Competitions. By the end of 2013 SSES has delivered more than 200 extra-curricular activities and has in the past years seen more than 2000 participants actively involved in its extra-curricular activities and events.

SSES' annual events Start-up Day and Good Morning offer an opportunity for an additional 1000+ entrepreneurs and alumni to interact on an annual basis.

Partner schools

SSES operates on a global basis with a number of partners in academia. These include Aalto University, Cornell University, d.school (Stanford University), Hong Kong Design Institute, Hong Kong Polytech University, National Institute of Design, India, National University of Singapore, Paris-est d.school, San Diego State University, Stellenbosch University, University College London, University of California, Berkeley and University of Texas Austin.
