The Glendon Association is a non-profit organization that conducts and publishes research, and provides education and outreach training on topics related to suicide and violence prevention.[1][2][3]

Mission statement
The mission of the Glendon Association is to "save lives and enhance mental health by addressing the social problems of suicide, child abuse, violence, and troubled interpersonal relationships." [1]
The Glendon Association conducts ongoing research in the areas of destructive and self-destructive behavior, parent-child relationships, and intimate relationships. The Glendon Association shares this research with mental health professionals and the public through a wide variety of presentations, publications, and radio and TV interviews.[1]
Annual Suicide and Violence Prevention Forum
Since 1995, the Glendon Association has hosted an annual suicide and violence prevention forum. This forum is free to the public and features prominent speakers who address issues of violence and suicide.
The 2009, fifteenth-annual forum was hosted by "The Bachelor" Andrew Firestone and moderated by Dr. Lisa Firestone of the Glendon Association. Speakers included representatives from Homeboy Industries, gang peace activist Aqeela Sherrills, and actress and suicide survivor Mariette Hartley.[4][5]
Publications
The Glendon Association has produced a variety of educational videos and books, which can be found in the store on the Association's website. With thirteen books currently in print, published by a variety of companies including New Harbinger Publications, Sage Publications, and Springer Publishing, the Glendon Association has provided a wide array of self-help books, covering information from suicide and child rearing to relationships and daily life. There is also a wide array of informational films covering the topics researched by the Glendon Association, as well as regularly scheduled webinars, and opportunities for viewing both live and recorded continuing education or CE videos. Along with its own publications, the association also hosts an interview series with mental health professionals.
Impact
In recent years, the Glendon Association has made an effort to expand the reach of its educational resources in order to reach not only mental health professionals, but also the general public. Great effort is put into developing new programs with the goal of educating people about suicide and violence risk, intimate relationships, sexuality, and parent-child relationships. The wide array of research articles, videos and seminars that can be found on the foundation's website and PsychAlive.org, hold useful information to anyone interested in finding self-help advice on these topics. [6] PsychAlive also now contains a page through which users may search for and even post opportunities to earn continuing education units for Mental Health Professionals.
At a national and international level, the foundation is represented by Lisa Firestone, who does conference presentations on topics that include couple relations, parenting, and suicide and violence prevention. [7]
Robert W. Firestone has long been the main theoretician for the foundation, devising unique approaches to therapy, such as Voice Therapy, and the Firestone Assessment of Violent Thoughts.
The Glendon Association also serves as the spearhead for an array of publications concerning the topics stressed by the foundation and on the website PsychAlive.org. Such publications include Beyond Death Anxiety, The Self Under Siege, and The Fanstasy Bond. [8]
