Tim McKay
Timothy J. McKay (March 19, 1947 - July 30, 2006) was an environmentalist and executive director of the non-profit Northcoast Environmental Centerin Arcata, California.
McKay was born in Stockton, California and grew up in Benicia, California. He attended Humboldt State University where he served as student body vice-president.[citation needed]
McKay was instrumental in the 1978 expansion of Redwood National Park and the 2006 acquisition of 275,000 acres (111,000 ha) of new wilderness areas on the North Coast.[citation needed] McKay worked projects for the protection of northern spotted owl, preservation of the Siskiyou Wilderness,[1] developing the Headwaters Forest preserve, opposition to corporate logging, and the Klamath River restoration.[citation needed]
McKay was posthumously awarded a Resolution of Honor for his lifetime of work from the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on September 26, 2006.[citation needed]
