Garuda terminal
A new integrated terminal referred to as Garuda Terminal is constructed beside the existing domestic terminal in an area of 16,500 sq.m. at a cost of 175 crores. The glass and steel structure can handle 500 domestic and 200 International Passengers at a time. The building is energy efficient and has been built with eco-friendly materials like fly ash bricks and low-heat gain glass. LED lighting and energy efficient chillers further improve its efficiency, giving the building a 4 star rating.[2] The parking lot can accommodate 300 cars. The foundation stone for the Terminal was laid in October 2010 by Manmohan Singh, the then Prime Minister of India.[3] Construction began in 2012,[4] and the terminal was inaugurated on 22 October 2015 by present Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.[5]

Plans for upgration
There are plans to upgrade Tirupati Airport to International status.[6] During September, 2010, the then Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, laid the foundation for Tirupati International Airport.[6][7] The plan includes both modernization and up-gradation of the Airport. Once completed the pilgrims from countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Middle east will find it easier to come to Tirupati.[7] There is a sizable peoples working in middle east especially in Kuwait from the Kadapa regions too. The upgradation plan is still under progress due to hurdles like land acquisition.[6]
