Blog 27 is a Polish pop group currently consisting of the singer Tola Szlagowska, four musicians and two dancers. The band rose to fame in Poland with 2005 debut album <LOL>, including hits "Uh La La La", "Hey Boy" and "Wid Out Ya". In 2006 Blog 27 achieved considerable international success, charting in a number of European countries as well as in Japan.[1] 2008 saw the release of their second album, Before I'll Die. Now, three years later Tola finished her music school and is preparing to release her third, yet untitled album. The promotional single for the album is "Don't Go" which premiered on Blog 27's YouTube page and Facebook. She is now working with Polish celebrity/manager Maja Sablewska

Career

Blog 27 was founded by two teenage singers and friends, Tola Szlagowska and Alicja "Ala" Boratyn. The group's name comes from their interest in blogging and the date they were both born (27 November 1992). Band's first single was a cover version of Alexia's hit "Uh La La La", released in the summer of 2005. Their second single, which was also a cover, was "Hey Boy (Get Your Ass Up)" with Teddybears Sthlm. It was released later the same year and was also successful. Debut album <LOL> came out on the girls' 13th birthday, selling ultimately over 100,000 copies in Poland and peaking at #2 there.[2]

In 2006 Blog 27 released their third single, "Wid Out Ya", which became another hit, and went on tour with German group Tokio Hotel. Their debut album was issued internationally, charting in no less than five countries. All the three singles were released in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and one ("Uh La La La") in France, Italy, Hungary and Japan. Two more singles followed in Poland: "I Still Don't Know Ya" and ballad "Who I Am?".

On 18 October 2006, Alicja announced her departure from Blog 27, citing differences on professional background with Tola.[3] Hence, "Who I Am?" music video saw only Tola starring in it. Blog 27's line-up then consisted of Tola as the leader and six more members. Despite Ala's departure, Blog 27's popularity still remained high, with their website achieving over 5 million hits in 2007.

In 2007 Blog 27 wins an EBBA Award. Every year the European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA) recognize the success of ten emerging artists or groups who reached audiences outside their own countries with their first internationally released album in the past year.

In April 2008 the second album, Before I'll Die, was released, on which Tola had been working in the USA. It made it to top 3 in Poland.[4] The first single off the record, "Cute (I'm Not Cute)", became a massive hit and got a four-star review from Blender.[5] However, the second single, "Fuck U!", failed to reach the charts and Tola moved to the USA.
