Travis Doering (born July 14, 1989 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian television producer, blogger and technical advisor.

Career

He is best known for his work as a technical consultant on the science fiction television series “Continuum”, an hour series in which a detective from the year 2077 finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver. With the help of a Computer Hacker named Alec, she begins searching for ruthless criminals from the future.[1] In addition to writing the tech dialogue on Continuum, Doering has served as a Systems Analyst for multiple American and Canadian companies. In 2012 Doering produced [2] “Hacked”, a half-hour TV Pilot for a reality series which takes you inside the mind of a computer hacker, as they test the security of top Canadian companies. Before producing Doering worked in the casting department on many film and television productions, including the SyFy series Eureka for NBC/Universal, Level Up for Cartoon Network and the TV Pilot "One Foot in Hell".

Edward Snowden Movie

In September 2013, Doering and Film Director Jason Bourque set out to crowdfund a feature film titled "Classified: The Edward Snowden Story".[3] "Classified" was a biographical feature film based on the life of NSA leaker Edward Snowden, in January 2014 production was shut down and the project was cancelled after losing several key donators due to not reaching their total 1.7 million dollar funding goal. When the production was shutdown Bourque and Doering announced that "Classified" would be split into two separate projects one titled "Vulnerability",[4] a documentary that focuses on IT security and the internet. The second, a feature film based on Snowden’s life that would be produced in cooperation with likeminded production companies and film distributors in the near future. In January 2014 existing backers from "Classified" had the option to transfer their donations to "Vulnerability" or have the funds fully refunded. "Vulnerability" began filming in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 10, 2014.

Hacker Film Blog and other reporting

In July 2015, Doering created the Hacker Film Blog [5] where he co-authored an article about a security breach at antivirus maker BitDefender.[6] The story was later picked up by Forbes,[7] The Washington Times,[8] and PC World.[9] Two months later in September 2015, Doering posted a documentary titled “Vulnerability: The Secrets Behind iCloud Hacking”.[10] The documentary exposed an underground hacking collective known as RipSec, whose members breached over eleven thousand iCloud accounts, a significant portion of which belonged to Hollywood celebrities like Amanda Seyfried, Kate Mara, and Jamie Foxx.[11]
