The Truckee Meadows is a valley in Northern Nevada which overlaps with a small portion of Reno and Sparks, including both downtown areas. The valley is approximately 10 square miles (26 km2). Reno is 69 square miles (180 km2). Sparks is 24 square miles (62 km2). Approx. 10% of Reno-Sparks is part of the Truckee Meadows.

Truckee Meadows has been incorrectly used interchangeably with the Reno-Sparks incorporated areas, which are not the same as the Truckee Meadows. The Truckee Meadow river basin follows the meadows along the Truckee River.

The Truckee Meadows is named for the Truckee River, which crosses the valley from west to east and goes through downtown Reno.
