The vice president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is the second highest political position attainable in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Vice Presidents are currently elected on the same ticket as the President. A Presidential candidate nominates two candidates for Vice President before the election. Amrullah Saleh is the current first vice president, and has claimed the office of acting president since 17 August 2021.[1]
