Xu Shousheng (Chinese: 徐守盛; pinyin: Xú Shǒushèng; born 1953 in Nantong, Jiangsu) is a politician of the People's Republic of China and the Communist Party Chief of Hunan province. He previously served as the Governor of Hunan and Gansu provinces.[1]

Biography

Xu joined the Communist Party of China in October 1973.[1] He was transferred from Jiangsu to Gansu in 2001 when he was appointed to head the Communist Party of China's Gansu Provincial Committee organization department.[1]

Xu Shousheng was first appointed as Governor of Gansu in January 2007.[1] He was re-elected by the Gansu Provincial People's Congress on January 26, 2008.[1]

As Governor of Gansu, Xu was responsible for the personnel, environmental, economic, political and foreign policy of the province.[1] The Governorship ranks second in the province behind the Communist Party of China Provincial Committee Secretary.[1]
