Ben White is a British journalist and writer, known for his focus on the Arab–Israeli conflict.[1][non-primary source needed]
Career
Since graduating from Cambridge University with a degree in English Literature in 2005, White has worked in journalism, education, and for several NGOs. He has visited Israel and the Palestinian territories a number of times and spent two years in Brazil.[citation needed] He worked for the Amos Trust, a Christian NGO focusing on social action, particularly in Nicaragua, India, and in Israel/Palestine.;[citation needed]After leaving Amos Trust[when?], White became the external communications officer for the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion at St. Edmund's College of Cambridge University.[citation needed]
Writings
White has written for print and online media, and has authored two books about the Israel-Palestine conflict: Israeli Apartheid: A Beginner’s Guide and Palestinians in Israel: Segregation, Discrimination and Democracy.[citation needed]. His opinion pieces have appeared in such publications as The Guardian's Comment is Free blog, Al Jazeera, The Electronic Intifada, New Statesman, The Christian Science Monitor, and the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs.[2][citation needed]
Criticism
Marcus Dysch in The Jewish Chronicle has called White an "anti-Israel campaigner",[3] and Jonny Paul, in The Jerusalem Post, called him an "anti-Israel activist".[4]
White was criticised[5][6] after the CounterPunch website published an article in which White acknowledged that he could "understand" why people are anti-Semitic because of the "state of Israel, its ideology of racial supremacy and its subsequent crimes committed against the Palestinians". He concluded the article by commenting, "'I can understand very well that some people are unpleasant towards Jews.' I do not agree with them, but I can understand".[7][non-primary source needed]
