Øistein Parmann

Øistein Parmann (10 March 1921 – 8 February 1999) was a Norwegian book publisher and writer.

He was born in Kristiania and married in 1945. He died in February 1999 in Nesodden.[1]

He made his literary debut in 1943 with Kanskje dette – Av en ung manns skissebok. He wrote novels and art history, and biographed Marcello Haugen (1974), Harald Dal (1975) and Halfdan Egedius (1979). In 1980 he edited and published the diaries of Maria Quisling. The pinnacle of his working career was his directorship in the publishing house Dreyers Forlag from 1974 to 1988 and praeses in the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature from 1982 to 1988.[1][2] He was a Government scholar from 1986.
