The 1979 German Grand Prix was a Formula One race held on 29 July 1979 at Hockenheimring. Alan Jones and Clay Regazzoni secured a double-win for Williams, after pole starter Jean-Pierre Jabouille spun off on the seventh lap in an ill-advised attempt at passing Jones on the outside.[1] Jones had a leaky rear tire for the last twenty laps of the race, but Regazzoni received orders to stay behind. Many championship contenders did not finish, and Williams moved into third place in the constructors' championship.[1]
