Mersin İdmanyurdu (also Mersin İdman Yurdu, Mersin İY, or MİY) Sports Club; located in Mersin, east Mediterranean coast of Turkey in 2006–07. The team participated in TFF League B for 2nd time in the league's 5th season. Mersin İdmanyurdu has finished 2006–07 TFF League B Classification Group at third place remained in the league. Team participated in 2006–07 Turkish Cup and eliminated in first round.

Erol Ertan was club president at the start of the season. Hamit İzol was elected president in the mid-season. MİY started to season with Nasır Belci as the head coach. Then İlyas Tüfekçi took the position within the season. Kahraman Karataş finished the season. Taylan Eliaçık was both most appeared player and top goalscorer.

2006–07 league participation

Mersin idmanyurdu participated in 2006–07 TFF League B (the league has been played under the name of "Second League Category B" between 2001–02 and 2005–06; "TFF League B" in 2006–07; and "TFF Second League" since 2007–08. Also sponsor names have been included in various seasons.). League was played by 50 teams in three stages. League was started on 12 August 2006. In the first stage teams fought in regionally specified five ranking groups (10 teams in each) for top two rankings to be qualified for Promotion Group in the next stage. In the second stage 10 teams fought for promotion to 2007–08 TFF First League. Champions and runners-up directly were promoted. Remaining 8 teams played in Classification Groups. Classification group winners were qualified to promotion play-offs, while bottom two teams relegated to 2007–08 TFF Third League. In the third stage, the third team to be promoted was determined in promotion-play-offs played in one-leg elimination system in a neutral venue. Play-offs were played were played by 8 teams (three from promotion group, 5 from each classification groups) in Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium between 21–26 May 2007.

Mersin İdmanyurdu took place in 2006–07 TFF League B Ranking Group 2 in the first stage and finished 3rd. In Classification Group 2, team finished at 3rd again and could not promote.

Classification group league table

Classification Group 2 was played with 8 teams remaining after top two of ranking group were promoted to promotion group. Top team in the group promoted to promotion play-offs, while bottom two teams relegated to 2007–08 TFF Third League season. Points and goals were carried from ranking group. MİY obtained 2 wins, 8 draws and 4 losses and finished third. Therefore, MİY couldn't have a chance to promote to TFF First League 2007-08. 2006–07 Turkish Cup participation

2006–07 Turkish Cup was played for 45th time as Fortis Türkiye Kupası for sponsorship purposes. The Cup was played with 54 teams in three stages. In the first stage two qualification rounds were played in one-leg elimination system. In the second stage (Group Stage) 20 teams played in four groups, 5 teams in each, in a one-leg round-robin system. Top two teams in each group played in knock-out stage. Beşiktaş won the cup for the 7th time. MİY played in qualification stage and was eliminated in group stage.[4]

Club management

Erol Ertan was club president at the start of the season. Hamit İzol, a businessman, was elected president in the mid-season.

Coaching team

MİY started the season with Levent Arıkdoğan as the head coach. After 10th round he left. Before 13th round Engin Korukır signed. He was replaced by Nasır Belci before 25th round.
