The 2016–17 Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team represents the University of Cincinnati in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bearcats are led by eleventh-year head coach Mick Cronin, play home games at Fifth Third Arena. The 2016-17 season will mark the final season year prior to major renovations starting after the 2016-17 season.[1]

Previous season

The Bearcats finished the season 22–11, 12–6 in AAC play to finish in a tie for third place with Houston and Tulsa. They lost to 5th seeded Connecticut in a 4 overtime thriller in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Tournament. Seeded ninth in the NCAA Tournament the Bearcats lost to Saint Joseph's in the first round.

Schedule

The Bearcats will host crosstown rival Xavier and Michigan[3] and return games at Butler[4] and Iowa State[5] Cincinnati will be participating in the 2016 Hall of Fame Tipoff,[6] Cincinnati will play host to Brown (Nov. 11) and Albany (Nov. 14) at Fifth Third Arena before facing Rhode Island (Nov. 19) in Connecticut. The Bearcats conclude play in the tournament against either Duke or Penn State in the championship or consolation game.
