The 43rd Filmfare Awards were held on January 31, 1998 in Mumbai, India.

Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai won eight awards including Best Movie, while Virasat collected six awards including Critics Award Best Movie and Critics Award Best Performance for (Actor and Actress). Kajol became the first actress to win Best Villain award for her appearance in Rajiv Rai's Gupt.
