Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest

The Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Rainforest (Spanish: Asociación Interétnica de Desarrollo de la Selva Peruana - AIDESEP) is a Peruvian national indigenous rights organization, presided over by a decentralized National Council based on six organisms found in the North, Center and South of the country. The organization is composed by 57 federations and territorial organizations, which represent the 1,350 communities where 350,000 indigenous people live, gathered in 16 language families. Its current president is Henderson Rengifo Hualinga, who succeeded Alberto Pizango in 2014. AIDESEP is a member of the Amazon Basin indigenous organization, COICA.

Members

The organizations that formed it are:

• Consejo Aguaruna-Huambisa (CAH) (Aguaruna-Huambisa Council) from the Amazonas departament.

• Asociación de Comunidades Asháninkas del valle de Pichis (Association of Asháninkas' Communities of Pichis Valley) It is the most numerous ethnic group of the country, which acronym is ACONAP and it mainly belongs to the department of Pasco.

• Federación de Comunidades Nativas del Ucayali (FECONAU) (Federation of the Native Communities from the department of Ucayali)

• Federación Nativa de Madre de Dios (FENAMAD) (Native Federation of the department of Madre de Dios)

• The Piro People (Ucayali)

• The Amuesha People (Pasco)

• The Matsés People (Loreto)

Its representatives work actively for improving the native settlers of the Amazon's conditions of health, education, housing, organization, etc.
