Abbas Namazian

Abbas Namazian (born 1940) was born in Kerman, Iran. His father (Haj Mohammad Namazian) was one of the most famous rug merchants in Kerman. He lived in Kerman until the age of 18 and, after getting his diploma, he went to Tehran to pursue his education in the field of Physical Sciences at University of Tehran. During his life in Kerman he practiced free style wrestling under the coaching of Mr. Ali Iran Manesh, the famous physical training coach in Kerman high schools, he was able to achieve local and national ranking. After graduating, he selected wrestling as his profession. He was an outstanding referee and honorably was the first Iranian wrestling referee who was selected as the best in the 2000 Summer Olympics and was awarded the Golden Whistle. As of 2010, he is a member of Iran wrestling federation refereeing committee.
