Adam Shapiro (television reporter)
Adam Shapiro is a television reporter and investigative journalist at FOX Business Network (FBN). He jointed FBN in September, 2007 as a New York based reporter and has reported extensively on the Chinese economy. Shapiro launched the TALKENOMICS since sprint 2010.
News career
Shapiro began his career while a student at Syracuse University by hosting Syracuse Morning Edition on WAER-FM In 1987, he joined the staff of WWSB-TV in Sarasota, Florida, as a news photographer. He worked his way up to positions as weekend anchor and producer.[1]
After that, Shapiro worked as a reporter at WSJV-TV, then ABC affiliate, based in South Bend, Indiana. In 1991, he was hired to anchor the weekend newscast for WXIN-TV (FOX) in Indianapolis, where he received a 1994 Emmy Award for an investigative piece. He then spent a year as a network correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC) based in Chicago covering major national news including the Gianni Versace murder and the Louise Woodward murder trial.[2]
In 1998, Shapiro was hired as a news anchor at WEWS-TV (ABC) in Cleveland.[3] While there, he also anchored Emmy Award-winning morning show Good Morning Cleveland. While there, he received a 2003 regional Emmy Award for Best Anchor and a 2002 Associated Press Award for Best Reporter.[2]
Shapiro left Cleveland in June, 2006 and became a "perma-lancer" for New York's WNBC-TV. As a general assignment reporter for the local morning show Today in New York, he covered all aspects of New York City. He also occasionally anchored the early evening and nightly newscasts.[4]
Personal life
A native of Miami, Florida, Shapiro is a graduate of Syracuse University.[2]
