İzmir Adnan Menderes International Airport (IATA: ADBICAO: LTBJ) is an airport serving İzmir and most of the surrounding province. It is named after former Turkish prime minister Adnan Menderes, and located in the Gaziemir district of İzmir.[2]

İzmir's main airport is located 18 km (11 mi) southwest[1] of the city on the way to Selçuk, Ephesus and Pamukkale.

The airport can be reached from Izmir via İZBAN metropolitan rail service or by Havaş[3] airport shuttle buses (every 20 minutes, 35 to 60 minutes) from the Turkish Airlines office.

Intercity trains operated by the Turkish State Railways stop at the Airport Station. There are currently about 14 daily trains in both directions. Northbound trains all go to Basmane Terminal in the city center, while southbound trains serve Ödemiş, Tire, Söke, Aydın, Nazilli Torbalı and stations in between.

Selçuk and Ephesus are 60 km (37 mi) south of ADB, reachable by rental car (less than an hour's drive), or via inexpensive, slow train (six times daily).

Pamukkale is 252 km (157 mi) from ADB, and driving there from the airport usually takes approximately 4 hours (4½ to 5 hours by bus).

The new international terminal opened in September 2006, with the new domestic terminal opening at around March 2014.

In 2014, ADB has served 10.9 million passengers, 8.3 million of which were domestic passengers. It has ranked 5th in terms of total passenger traffic (after Ataturk Airport, Antalya Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Esenboğa Airport), and 4th in terms of domestic passenger traffic (after Ataturk Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport and Esenboğa Airport) within the country.[4]

The airport was designed by Yakup Hazan Architecture.
