Allison Elizabeth Cook (born January 30, 1994) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Klamath Falls, Oregon, who was crowned Miss Oregon 2013. She competed for the Miss America 2014 title in September 2013 but was not a finalist.

Pageant career

Early pageants

Cook entered her first pageant after learning they could help pay for her college education.[2] She sought alternatives after concussion injuries forced her to leave the Oregon Tech basketball and volleyball teams.[3] On April 28, 2012, Cook won the Miss City of Sunshine 2012 title and more than $6,500 in scholarship prizes.[4][5][6]

Cook then competed as one of 23 qualifiers in the June 2012 Miss Oregon pageant with the platform "Athletic Concussion Awareness" and a fiddle performance in the talent portion of the competition.[4][7] She was named fourth runner-up to winner Rachel Berry and won an additional $3,200 in scholarships.[2][8][9] In July 2012, Berry was forced to resign for failing to meet Miss Oregon's residency requirements, advancing original first runner-up Nichole Mead to the title.[10]

Miss Oregon 2013

On April 21, 2013, Cook was crowned Miss Southern Gem 2013.[6] She entered the Miss Oregon pageant at the Seaside Convention Center in June 2013 as one of 22 qualifiers for the state title.[11][12] Cook's competition talent was an electro-acoustic fiddle performance of the song "Let's Get It Started" by the The Black Eyed Peas.[13] Her platform was "Athletic Concussion Awareness".[6][14]

Cook won the competition on Saturday, June 29, 2013, when she received her crown from outgoing Miss Oregon titleholder Nichole Mead.[2][12][13] She earned more than $10,000 in scholarship money and other prizes from the state pageant.[6] As Miss Oregon, her activities included public appearances across the state of Oregon.[14][15]

Her reign continued until June 28, 2014, when she crowned her successor, Rebecca Anderson, as Miss Oregon 2014.[16]

Vying for Miss America

Cook was Oregon's representative at the Miss America 2014 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2013.[6][11] She was noted for being both the youngest and the tallest of that year's competitors.[1] During the pageant's "Show Us Your Shoes" parade, Cook wore cow print boots and a dress covered in Tillamook Cheese wrappers.[17] Cook was not a finalist for the national crown.[17]

Personal life and education

Cook is a native of Granite Bay, California, and a 2011 graduate of Granite Bay High School.[2] Her father is Steve Cook and her mother is Patti Cook.[2]

Cook is a student at Oregon Institute of Technology where she studies radiology.[2][13]
