Ana Mari Cauce is an American psychologist, college administrator and the 33rd and current president of the University of Washington. She is the first woman to be the permanent president of Washington.[1] Cauce was selected by the University of Washington Board of Regents on October 13, 2015 after serving as the interim president since March 2015, when her predecessor Michael Young announced his departure.[2] She has been with the university since 1986.[3]

Biography

Cauce was born in Havana, Cuba. Her family fled the island during the Cuban revolution when she was three years old. She grew up in Miami, Florida.[4]

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Miami. Cauce earned her doctorate from Yale University in psychology, with a concentration in child clinical and community psychology.[5]
