History

Andover New Street Football Club first started in the 1890s by the vicar of St Mary's Church, and was originally called St Mary's Youth.[2] the club then shortly changed its name to St Mary's Swifts before settling on New Street in 1895.[2] The club originally played in the Andover & District League, before moving to the North Hants League.[2]

After World War Two the club collapsed in the 1950s and was reformed again in 1961. At some point from 1969 the club then joined the North Hants League, before moving to the Hampshire League since at least the 1978–79 season, playing in Division Two.[2][3] The club played in Division Two until the 1985–86 season, when they gained promotion to Division One, managing four seasons in Division One before being relegated back to Division Two.[4] The club suffered further relegation the following season ending up in the newly formed Division Three. However the club bounced back the following two seasons with back to back promotion and ended back in Division One.[4]

The club then spent the next eleven seasons in the top division of the Hampshire League, which was renamed to the Premier Division. During this period the club changed its name in 2001 to Andover New Street.[5] In the 2003–04 season the club finished as Runners-up in the Hampshire League and the following season joined Division Two of the Wessex League, which was renamed Division One two seasons later.[5] The 2004–05 season also saw the club play its first National FA competition when they made their debut in the FA Vase.[5] Since joining the Wessex League the club has since remained in Division One.
