The women's shot put event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on 16 August at the Beijing Olympic Stadium.[1] The qualifying standards were Lua error in Module:Convert at line 1851: attempt to index local 'en_value' (a nil value). (A standard) and Lua error in Module:Convert at line 1851: attempt to index local 'en_value' (a nil value). (B standard).[2]

The event was won by Valerie Vili (née Adams) of New Zealand, with a best throw of 20.56 metres.[3]
