Atlanta Metropolitan State College is a four year unit of the University System of Georgia. United States.

Located along the Metropolitan Parkway corridor in southwest Atlanta, just 3 miles from the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the busiest airport in the world, Atlanta Metropolitan State College is a four-year military friendly commuter campus providing a high quality education to students who primarily come from the metropolitan Atlanta area. Its exceptional educational programs are for students interested in earning a four year degree and an associate degree.

Founded in 1974 as part of the University System of Georgia, Atlanta Junior College was renamed Atlanta Metropolitan College in 1988 and received state college status in 2011, to be renamed Atlanta Metropolitan State College.

With an enrollment of 3,200, women are in the majority, as are African-American students, and 93 percent are Georgia residents. But the college attracts students from foreign countries. More than half of the students attend classes full-time. AMSC offers online courses via the Desire2Learn program and has a weekend college.

The main campus is nestled on 79 acres (320,000 m2). Classes are taught in State of the Art classrooms and the campus has a state of the art conference center and student activity center. In addition, the campus has a athletic complex.

The college offers 40 + courses of study in the fields of business, humanities and fine arts, natural science and mathematics and social science. Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Atlanta Metropolitan State College awards the BS in Biological Science, BS in Applied Mathematics, Digital Media and Design, Criminal Justice, the BBA degree in Business Administration and in partnership with KSU a BS in teacher education. In addition, the college offers the Associate of Art and Associate of Science degrees through its transfer program track. Students also may pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree through the institution's career program track.

Students can participate in dozens of approved honorary, professional and social student clubs and organizations, including Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), College Choir, the International Students Organization and the student newspaper, The Student Times. In addition, Atlanta Metropolitan State College has a strong record in intercollegiate athletics and holds four championships in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association Conference for men's basketball.
