B4574 road
The B4574 is a road linking the villages of Pont-rhyd-y-groes in Ceredigion, Wales, and Devil's Bridge, 12 miles east of Aberystwyth and noted for three bridges built one above each other as well as for its world-famous falls [1] and narrow gauge steam railway. [2] Although barely six miles long, the route has been described by the AA as one of the ten most scenic drives in the world.[3][4][5]
Running partly along a section of the upper Ystwyth valley, the route takes in often wild and beautiful scenery. The crumbling remains of the vast Cwmystwyth Mines are breathtaking in their expanse,[6] and have been described as having a moon-scape quality.[7] Other sights include a monumental arch built to commemorate George III's golden jubilee and the Hafod Estate, recognised as one of the finest examples in Europe of a picturesque landscape.[8]
